The HSC-based Indigenous Health team can help you navigate your care journey at Manitoba’s largest hospital. Whether you are from Winnipeg or visiting the facility from out of town, our team of dedicated providers can connect you with culturally safe services and resources.
Services include:
- Indigenous language interpretation
- Discharge planning
- Ceremony and access to traditional medicine
- Spiritual guidance

Smudges
Smudging is open to all patients, families, staff, and people of all backgrounds.
Smudges are offered monthly:
- The second Monday of the month at 10 a.m. in the Green Owl Zone, Level 2, Sanctuary
NOTE: Mon Sep 14, 2026 smudge is cancelled - The second Tuesday of the month at 12:45 p.m. in 665 William Ave, Level 4 (HSC Women’s)
- The fourth Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. in 665 William Ave, Level 4 (HSC Women’s)
Smudging is a common practice of Indigenous people for the purpose of purifying or cleansing the body, mind, and spirit of negative thoughts.
Ceremony, Gatherings, and Events
Throughout the year, the Indigenous Health team recognizes several commemorative and awareness days through ceremony, gatherings, and events.
