Health Services include:

  • face-to-face interpreters
  • traditional services
  • help planning care for returning home or between health care facilities
  • advocacy and support of your interests, needs and rights while in the hospital

These services are free of charge and provided upon request. All information is private and confidential.

Smudges

Smudging is open to all patients, families, staff, and people of all backgrounds.
Smudges are offered monthly:

  • The second Monday of the month at 10 a.m. in the Green Owl Zone, Level 2, Sanctuary
  • The second Tuesday of the month at 12:45 p.m. in 665 William Ave, Level 4 (HSC Women’s)
  • The fourth Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. in 665 William Ave, Level 4 (HSC Women’s) – NOTE: July 22, 2026 smudge is cancelled

Smudging is a common practice of Indigenous people for the purpose of purifying or cleansing the body, mind, and spirit of negative thoughts.

Ceremony, Gatherings, and Events

Throughout the year, the Indigenous Health team recognizes several commemorative and awareness days through ceremony, gatherings, and events.
