Assistive Technology Products & Services provide consultation services and specialized electronic and mechanical aids for adults with physical disabilities.
Services offered are based on referral primarily by an occupational therapist, see for more details.

Automated Teller Machines
Automated teller machines are located throughout HSC. The $3.00 service charge for your transaction is a donation to the hospital.
Lost & Found
Orange Bison Zone (Level 1)
Lost and found is located at the 820 Sherbrook Street entrance Welcome Centre.

Orthotics Services
The Orthotics Department assists patients in gaining the highest possible level of independence through the use of spinal, limb, and foot orthoses. The care team, consisting of Orthotists and Technicians, assesses patients, designs, fabricates and fits a wide variety of devices to prevent or correct deformities, improve function, or protect a weakened or painful body segment. Pathologies such as neuromuscular disorders, diabetes, trauma, spinal cord injury, scoliosis, arthritis, and others are commonly treated in this department.
Services are provided to in-patients, out-patients, and staff of HSC.

PAR Health Services
Magenta Fox Zone (Level 1)
PAR (Prevention, Assessment and Rehabilitation) Health Services provides Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy for clients with third party funding such as MPI and WCB, as well as with private insurance such as MB Blue Cross. Our experienced clinicians provide care for both surgical and non-surgical hand and upper extremity related conditions, along with musculoskeletal diagnoses such as acute and repetitive strain injuries, cervicogenic headaches, and multi-trauma injuries.
Short notice appointments are available for both community clients and HSC staff. Please contact the clinic for more information

Security Services
Orange Bison Zone, Level 2
For your safety, cameras are located throughout HSC and Security personnel patrol the buildings and grounds 24 hours per day. Panic / Distress alarm buttons are located in all parkades.

SelectVu Patient Entertainment System
SelectVu Patient Entertainment is an exciting state-of-the-art bedside entertainment system for patients and their families. The system includes television, phone, internet, games, movies and more. Call for more information.

Specialized Seating Services
Magenta Fox Zone, Level 1
Specialized Seating Services is for individuals 18 years of age or older who are full-time wheelchair users and have seating and mobility related issues that cannot be met through community-based therapy resources.
Occupational therapists and physiotherapists act as consultants to provide assessment and education in the following areas:
- pressure ulcers
- posture & mobility
- assistive technology

Staxis & Wheelchairs
Staxi Chairs
Staxis are transport chairs available for outpatients and visitors who need assistance travelling to and from appointments at HSC. A loonie must be used to access a Staxi. It will be returned when the Staxi is returned to the rack.
Please have a family member or friend accompany you if you need to use a Staxi. Staxi chairs are available at the following entrances:
- 820 Sherbrook Avenue entrance – Orange Bison Zone, Level 1
- 810 Sherbrook Street entrance – Pink Goose Zone, Level 1
- 800 Sherbrook Street entrance – Magenta Fox Zone, Level 1

Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are available for use while you are in the hospital, and to get you to the front entrance when you are discharged.
Please do not remove wheelchairs from HSC.
