Opportunities

Volunteers who have daytime availability during the week are prioritized to meet our needs. Evenings and weekend positions are very limited.

Volunteer positions are offered as:

• Adult patient support (age 18+): Volunteers interact directly with adult patients and their families. Placements include visiting inpatients, delivering reading materials, delivering recreational activities in Rehab and PsycHealth, acting as HSC ambassadors, or helping visitors find their way to appointments.
• Children’s patient support (age 18+): Volunteers who are 18 years or older may specialize in supporting services to pediatric patients. Placements include visiting inpatients, offering friendly support to patients and their families, and assisting in the playroom.
• Clerical support (age 18+): Volunteers assist staff throughout HSC to support their work in an office setting. Tasks may include patient calling, building patients charts, and filing.
• Gift Shop support (age 16+): Volunteers assist staff in the gift shop and will learn customer service and cash handling. Opportunities to transition into patient support roles may be available when volunteers turn 18.
